At the next monthly meeting on Monday, 11th October, our speaker will be Simon Le Frenais, a retired GP, now indulging himself with his family, golf, gardening and travelling. Simon will be giving a talk entitled “Queen Victoria – who do you think she was?” covering the background to her succession to the throne, and her important impact on the royal families, and subsequent history, of Europe.
With the benefit of his medical background, he will also discuss the fact that she was a carrier for the bleeding disease haemophilia, and the possible origins of her carrier status for what, at that time, was a dreadful disease.
Congleton Dane is a men’s Probus Club for retired businessmen or professionals. Anyone wishing to sample this meeting and talk can contact the club through the Contact Page of this web site, or if preferred they can ring 07717 375505 to speak to a current member.
